Posted 18 May - PM. Desktop Windows 8. I live in America and my browsers are English which is the only language I know. This started a few days ago, it's on firefox only, and whenever I use google it has some kind of strange language mixed in with English, I'm guessing Russian?
When I /1792.txt on firefox browser settings, and then click privacy and security and click clears cookies and site data the language goes back to normal, then 30 to 60 mins later it starts doing it again, but it stops doing it for a short time whenever I clear cookies and site data. I've scanned with AVG free antivirus boot scan and it found nothing.
I also used Revo uninstaller and clicked advanced and completely removed everything firefox related off my system, files, folders, etc. Then installed firefox from scratch, and about 30 minutes after installing firefox it started again. I tried duckgo and Yahoo search engines, it only does this when using google search engine and only on firefox.
I have google chrome browser and also opera browser and they don't do this. I will try to upload a picture here which shows strange foreign language mixed with English. Well it was set to English so it wasn't that. But I ended up on another google page where it has "Region Settings" you click where you are from and it has all of these places listed. So something for whatever reason changed my location from the United states to a different place, but the English was still selected on google, so English was being mixed with that other countries language.
And the odd thing is, now at the bottom of google it has my city listed and it has "From your device - Update location" before it did not show a location of anything. So I don't what happened or what did that, but it's very weird. The whole thing is strange though I will now attempt the Farbar tool and report back shortly.
